12 June 2018 | Bhopal: The World Resources Institute (WRI) India in partnership with the Madhya Pradesh State Knowledge Management Centre on Climate Change, Environmental Planning and Coordination Organisation (SKMCCC, EPCO) hosted a workshop on improving planning for climate adaptation and resilience using a data-driven approach.

In April, the United Nations General Assembly declared 3 June as World Bicycle Day, acknowledging the “uniqueness, longevity, and versatility” of the bicycle. For a long time now, the bicycle has been recognised as a sustainable mode of transportation that is simple, affordable, reliable, clean, and enhances urban mobility and access. The Assembly welcomed communities around the world to organise bicycle rides and other such events to promote physical and mental health and well-being, and develop a culture of cycling in society.

As the Indian government begins implementing its ambitious domestic targets to mitigate carbon emissions, Indian cities could play a crucial role. They could adopt action plans and aim to mitigate emissions roughly in line with the national government’s targets, said climate experts in New Delhi this month.

A key first step will be collecting data and creating city-level greenhouse gas emissions inventories and identifying hotspots, said Subrata Chakrabarty, a climate researcher at WRI India. This will help the government prioritize actions and strategies for climate mitigation.

7 March 2018, New Delhi: A diverse mix of stakeholders including government officials, corporates and civil society joined 'India Vision Zero: Towards Zero Traffic Deaths', a day-long summit in Delhi to discuss road safety reforms in India, on Wednesday (March 7). Jointly organized by UL (Underwriters Laboratories), Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety and World Resources Institute (WRI) India, the summit saw participants discussing strategies to make public bus services safer, as well as the role of corporates in advancing road safety in Indian cities.
